I am an avid outdoorsman who enjoys being prepared. Most of my personal experience comes from exploring the states where I’ve lived—New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia—camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, backpacking, canoeing, trail riding, rock climbing, photographing, video recording, and more.
For some time now, I have developed various checklists of things to remember, projects to do, ideas to plan, or topics to learn more about. Over time, I kept expanding and re-organizing my lists until I thought maybe I should put them all together into some sort of electronic document that I could reference on my cell phone. That is how this book was born—I wrote and compiled it for myself and then adapted it for you. These quick reference lists are not just for kids or newbies; veteran hikers and campers know the value of a detailed checklist to ensure that nothing is forgotten. Whatever you do in the great outdoors, I hope you find the wealth of information in this book as helpful as I have.
